Summary

Established in 1950, Nihon Denkei is an independent specialized trading company with a leading market share, by sales, in electronic measuring instruments. The market for electronic measuring instruments—valued at about JPY750.0bn (fiscal 2016; combined domestic sales, exports, and sales by overseas subsidiaries)—divides into two segments: indirect sales via dealers (about 40% of the market; excludes intra-group consumption), and direct sales by manufacturers (roughly 60%). Nihon Denkei controls just under 30% of the overall Japanese market in the dealer segment and holds a market share of roughly 50% in the Kanto region. It operates 39 sales offices in Japan and another 39 in 11 other countries. Nihon Denkei has established a sales network highly responsive to user needs based on its strength as an independent trading company that does not rely on any single manufacturer.
